The Studio, Lacey Street, Widnes WA8 7SQ is a Community Music, Theatre & Arts Centre.

Getting Together: A Song For All is a new song writing project, creating one song which reflects the ‘More in Common’ message inspired by MP Jo Cox and the Great Get Together Movement that followed her death in 2016.


We have had song writing sessions from Joe Solo from We Shall Overcome movement Stephen Cole from a.P.A.t.T and project creator Anthony Brandreth of RedMonk.

NEWS! On Sat 20th July we participated in The Catalyst Science Discovery Centres 50 Years of the Moon Landing Celebrations, with musicians taking inspiration from Matthew McGurty & The Mnemonics track ‘Alien’ and from The Studio Creative Writing group responses to the Apollo 11 mission with dancers from Katie Glovers’ Adult troop, dancing to the text, music and with a Sound Beam! We also had flag making from Artspace facilitator Georgina Ridehalgh. We met trainee Astronaut Dr Jackie Bell and had a thoroughly good time; thanks to Jade French for inviting us!


In other news we are being supported by Mersey Link Time Bank Volunteers to regenerate our rear garden area, we will launch it and celebrate their and The Studio volunteers hard work on Sat 24 August 11-3pm at the Carnival.



June was probably our busiest month ever! Additional to our weekly and monthly events and activities we took part in 3 Great Get Togethers inspired by MP Jo Cox and funded by Inovyn, HBC Area Forum and Widnes Rotary and a Theatre Festival! These will be annual events , much needed due to the feedback gathered.


‘All Together Now’ is our Reaching Communities funded arts activity programme for all See What’s On There are ongoing FREE or low-cost creative activities & events; facilities include recording, film-making, exhibitions in the ArtSpace Gallery, band rehearsal, and live music & theatre performance.

THE STUDIO IS HOME TO: LOOSE, Daycare Samba Band, Freshstart (Health Improvement Team), ACE Clubnight (Active Communities Enterprise), SPARC (Supporting People Achieving Real Choice), and Cronton College Music BTEC. LOOSE runs The Studio and has a committee of 5 voluntary directors.
